Effra has impressive design credentials, tracing its family history right back to Caslon Junior. With clean lines and humanist character shapes, Effra is a supremely flexible sans serif font family that has become a design favourite in recent years. It solves everyday design and communication problems by providing a unique look-and-feel that can be applied to a wide range of media.
Effra is named after the river that runs through Brixton, the area of London that is home to our UK studio. It takes its inspiration from one of the earliest commercial sans serif font designs, Caslon Junior, but updates it for contemporary use. Designed by Jonas Schudel, the font family earned him a prestigious Red Dot award in 2013. By drawing on an iconic piece of font design history, he gave Effra a personality that embraces its heritage while also sitting firmly in the digital age.
